beach detecting with Prizm 4

Has anyone done any detecting with a Prizm 4? I am headed to the beach and need some pointers. I know my detector is supposed to have a water proof coil but does the saltwater harm it?

Your detector will work in the dry sand, but you will find that the wet sand and water will make it very unstable.

Very few VLF single freq machines will function properly on the wet sand or salt water. Your coil is water proof and occasional use in the salt water wont harm it. However, i wouldnt recommend using the coil constantly... even the ones designed for salt water machines tend to have problems over time. Salt water is just hard on anything. DONT>>> REPEAT DONT get your box wet or raise your coil about your box.... its not water proof and if you have an inline coil that box isnt either. Even if you dont go near the wet.... make sure you completely clean your equipment when you are done. I have a cover but still put a sticker over my speaker area to protect anything from getting in.
