Beach detecting in light rain drizzle

Well what a pisser this is.. a brand new E-Trac and GPX-4500 sitting here and it's raining ....grrrr

Question for those in the know, if I have the E-Trac control head cover on and wrap clear sandwich bag around it, do you think it's reasonably safe to go out in light drizzle with it permitted I'm careful and take it off when done so no condensation builds up?

Look like living in Vancouver mean buying an Excalibur for 11 months of the year.

rain over this way too. got my etrac in the den, setting back looking at other folks finds and wishing

not worth the the risk my friend lol

I agree... too cold and wet for me... better to watch videos online.

There is a video of hot to keep the rain off you machine useing a empty soda bottle, the weather cover is a good idea too.

I think all the manufactures should at least offer a weather proof option for the hi end detectors
I would pay some extra coin for this instead of a sandwich bag and 1000.00 dollars + UP IN SMOKE !!!

But that's just me HH Mike

That's for damn sure.. I'm sitting here with an E-Trac on one side and a GPX-4500 on the other and it's pouring rain outside and can't use eaither safely.. My ownly option from Minelab for wet weather is an Excalibur II 1000, technology from years ago (Soveriegn). While I'm sure the Sov/Ex are great, I don't scuba dive and feel that it sucks that I need to buy a third, old technology machine to detect safely in the rain/drizzle (which it does here in Vancouver 394 days of the year.

Taking a Sov and putting it in a weather proof enclosure and doubling the price seems a bit extreme and overkill for us non scuba people.... come on Minelab... if someone buys a $1600.00 detector (E-Trac), you should probably offer a weather proof enclosure for the control head as an option... jeesus, I can get one for my $89.00 digital camera.

I'd gladly pay for it.

Jennifer (sitting here pouting watching it rain)..... grrr can't even use the emulators cus I'm a Mac user...grumble grumble grumble

I attended the Blue & Grey Hunt this past weekend. It rained all weekend, I used the E-Trac for the entire hunt in the rain without the rain cover, and this machine was dripping wet, and I had no problems at all. The machine never stopped working and I even found an 1862 Princess Head Gold Dollar Coin at around 7 inches deep. This is one tuff machine. HH...Jesse.
