Beach Closings

Here in New York all the beaches on Long Island close at dusk this really stinks considering my free time is after I get home from work, by then it is past dusk. Is it this way all over the states or just here. Went to the beach at 6:00 pm yesterday and the rangers told me the beach was closed. ouch Thanks in advance Ed

the beaches along NH and MA ocean are accessible all year long. In land freshwater State Parks are closed at night, but I've never heard of any ocean beaches being closed.

The way I worked around it.I went down and got the night-time fishing permit.Cost 10.00 and I think 30.00 for the green key pass, good for 3yrs.Then there is the permit for the state parks another 20.00, anything to suck the eye-balls out of you here. And make sure you have fishing gear with you.Because, if they want to give you a hard time they can technically revoke your fishing permit, for you do the detecting. And if you work on the east end (hamptons) they have their own money making scam, with permits. They also, love to keep the tow guys busy.

In CT the State Beach parks close at sunset along with some of the city parks.
