Beach and night hunting in the Idaho high country....BRRRRRR...

Fall is well under way here in Idaho and our storm pattern is in the usual mode. It was 15 degrees here a couple days ago, and the rain and snow has been coming on strong. The weather forcast was for warmer temps Saturday, and a break in the storms for the afternoon. Nancy and I headed up to a high mountain lake with swimming beaches that we have not hunted for a couple years.

We arrived at the beach we wanted to hunt just as the weather was getting somewhat better. The mountains had a little snow left from the "Warm" rains the night before. And the lake was a little bricky (How is that Bobbie?) The sun was breaking out in some place south of here, maybe.

Nancy went right to hunting the swimming beach that was left dry by the lower lake levels of fall. She was all bundled up. Doesn't she look nice and warm?

We hunted here for a couple hours and found some goodies. I always like this kind of hunt as the finds are many and interesting as well.

We were getting hungry so we went into a small town near by for a very late lunch. After warming up and eating we went to another spot on the lake and just watched the sun go down over the mountains. If you look hard you might just see one of my elk hunting spots up on that mountain on the left.

Nancy had enough of the cold and wind by now. She wanted to take off for home. We headed down river for the 1 1/2 hour drive home. On the way home we drove along some of the best white water rafting in the world. We have rafted down some of this wild river several times. There is a spot in the river where the water slows down. This place is where many rafters end their trip and leave the water. It was dark when I stopped here, but we hunted the sandy area that is under water most of the year, but high and dry now do to reduced river flow. The moon came up and gave is some light to do a little cold weather night hunting. There was lots of coins and a little jewelery here.

This was the first hunting I have done since Elson was here, and it was good to get out. Nancy and I had a nice time.

Hope you enjoyed the trip, DC
