Hello All,This Is Just A Little Advice To Any Ozzies Who Are Thinking Of Buying A New Detector, DONT Get It In Australia!!!! Im An Australian And I Wanted A New Detector So Had A Look At A Few From MIND-LESS Well To Keep The Story Short I Got A Brand-New Detector From The U.S At A $375 Saveing!! And Thats With Air-Mail Direct To My Door,(yes From A Mail-Order Firm Winter springs) So Hear Me Well And DONT Waste Your Money Down-Under!!! Regards, Skippy
 
What type of detector was it? How easy is it going to be if you have difficulty with it? Will it cost you to send it back if repairs are needed.....post etc......what type of warranty did they give you? Have you dealt with these people in the past? Do they have a good track record and who did you go through? Just a few questions sorry I'm just curious......

A new Fisher Gold Bug 2 here in Oz from the local distributer will cost you $1500AUD plus 10% GST = $1650AUD
Kellyco have them for $825.AUD with a heap of extras

G'day nugget.
The warranty is an interesting question. Here in Oz, if you buy from over sees, our laws give this the same status as being the manufacturer.This means that you are fully responsible for any manufacturing defects. Kinda weird when Minelab made them here. It would be an interesting argument if you did have a problem though and took it to the department of fair trading though. That aside. All you have done, is voided your warranty if you don't want to send it back to the States to have the warranty work done over there. This gives you 2 other options. Send a repair job back to Minelab at their going rate, or take it to your local TV and audio repairer at a much cheaper price (Depending on the nature of the repair job).
As far as price goes; from what I have heard, it's not the retailer charging too much, as I have heard that they only mark the machines up 20% more than they pay for them, which in retailing terms is pitiful.
Just my opinion.
