Just a little warning about ordering the NIMH batteries from the most popular outside supplier.
If you go to their site, you will see NIMH batteries for the Excalibur that are rated at 9.6 volts and 12 volts.
Make sure if you have the newer versions of the Excalibur to get the 12 volt versions which are more expensive. The batteries will actually read about 14.5 volts but that is OK as the Excalibur will regulate the voltage to 12.
I almost made the mistake of getting the lower voltage version when I noticed that the 12 volt version was further down on the page.
You may also want to coat the edges of the batteries with plumbers grease when putting them into the pod as they will jam into the pod and be hard to remove if needed.
The plumbers grease is also needed to re coat the O ring when putting the battery pod back together, I also recommend a small bit of caulk around the end under the plastic cap to keep water out of the battery pod.
And don't forget to re install the small anti moisture desiccant pack. That will keep moisture buildup in the pod to a minimum. I normally stuff two of those in my Excalibur battery pods to keep them dry.
One final note: Do not over tighten the small allen head screws in the pod. You will crack the pod if tightened too much. Get the screw finger tight and then just a quarter turn more. Any more than that and you will crack the pod for sure.
