BBS Vs FBS

In a recent discussion about the possibilities of a new model Sov., I raised the question of a change to FBS. That idea was put down by at least one person, but I really didn't understand why. Can anyone explain to me why FBS would not be better than FBS in a sov?

You mean FBS Vs BBS ?

Chuck...
Maybe you need to make one thing clear...
Would you want it to work on 28 freqs instead of 17 for a marginal gain...if any... while still having the same controls ease of operation and target responses as the usual Sov? Or do you want to turn it into another version of the Exploder....which a lot of us Sov users can't stand?

In other words...what appears for all purposes to be a Sov but running transparently on 28 freqs instead of 17? Or do you want to turn it into a complicated push button abortion?

Also remember....none of our BBS coils or probes will work with FBS. OUCH!!!!!

Chuck, send that question to Minelab USA and maybe they will tell you why not. I just think if it was that easy to shrink down an Explorer into a smaller light-weight housing, I would think that Minelab would have already done it. I would love a Sovereign that weighed as little as the X-Terra, with a built-in meter to boot. Maybe they need to try and build a 17 frequency X-Terra!:beers:

Remove the coil and battery pack. A Sov weighs juat about nothing.
So how about a light coil and a lithium rechargeable pack that is super light compared to what we have now? I could go for that without any other changes.

Or just make the light coil and lithium pack as acessories for direct and easy installation rather than buying a whole new detector??
