Battlefields Being Cleared

Heres what has been happening all too often here in Virginia. Its the site if a major battle that backs to the National park. I know we cant save it all but I sure hate to see it go. The woods they are clearing has miles of old road beds, earthworks and rifle pits.

Ive found maybe 30-40 bullets and a few eagle buttons so far. I keep hoping for something better. Its been hunted for years but there must be a few good relics left in there. Id like to find them before the bulldozers haul them away. Ill be trying it again this weekend. My friend is visiting and bringing his new Edge with a 10.5 inch coil and he is also bringing me a 10.5 inch coil for my coinstrike. It will be interesting to compare, he will also have a buddy with him with a Minelab Explorer. Im looking forward to seeing how good they do with those 2 detectors.

Hi ho!

looks like great fun. Check the root balls. If you find a nice rifle pit or trashy iron spot then simply dig.

Come on down. BUT.... Ill tell you its not as good as you would think. The area really has been hunted a lot over the last 40 years. BUT.... like you know when they start pulling out trees it can really bring out that hard to find stuff.

I think Tony (NC) may be here this weekend.

Just to make it clear when I said miles of..... I was refering to all the old roads. There are some earthworks but its really suprising to see how many roads crisscross in that woods.
