Battery Questions

The battery pack in my Explorer XS is labeled "12 volt" and the one that came with my E-Trac is labeled "9.6 volt". I know the alkaline pack is 8 X 1.5v AA batteries and should be 12 volts if they are in series. So my questions: Is the E-Trac rechargeable pack mis-labeled? or is the new alkaline pack wired in a series/parallel configuration to make 9.6 volts? Are the battery packs interchangeable between the two detectors?

The pack is 12 volts but I think the machine only requires 9.6 volts to operate. They do have a regulator in them. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please. They should also be interchangeable. To find out for sure about the pack voltage use your DC Volt Meter. Make sure both are fully charged. Maybe I'm nuts but I think this is the case.

Check Sovereign Forum for any new battery threads. I cover everything for the most part on rechargables, regulators, a good cheap charger, etc.
