Battery Question

I recently got a CTX 3030 and I wanted to know if anyone had experience using rechargeable AA Batteries. I don't have the rechargeable Li-ion battery pack that comes with the standard package so was thinking about getting some Eneloop Pro AA Ni-MH batteries. My question is does anyone know if AA Ni-MH work as well as standard Duracell AA batteries or the Li-ion battery that comes in the standard package? I know that AA Ni-MH batteries may not last as long but do they suffer loss of depth when used on the CTX? Thanks in advance and HH!

AA's supply the same voltage which is regulated by the machine anyway, so as long as a battery is supplying that, there is no effect on the machine.

When I first got my CTX, I ran both the factory Li battery and AA Eneloops (2000mah's, newer ones pack a bigger punch) till they got very low and they seemed to run about the same length of time. I have run nothing but the factory Li since that test and just keep the AAs in the vehicle as backup. Run em if you want to and report back how they preform for you.

I run the eneloops in my backup AA pack, and they run just fine.

The only thing I notice is that since they are heavier than the LiON pack, it makes the machine feel a little 'off' in balance...at least to me. :)

YMMV.

I ran several different types of rechargeables, 2200's, 3000's, and 3400's and they all seemed to last about 8-9 hours hunting. Regular AA seemed to last a tad less. For about a year I did some tests on re-charging duracell AA's and found that with a few exceptions they did pretty good. No exploding issues, etc. I even ran a spreadsheet with pre and post charge numbers and how long each lasted. I had grouped them 8 to a pack. It was a couple of years ago and It seemed to me that the Everready ones seemed to have the most issues after several charges. I know, I know, everyone will say your house will burn down and all your children will be born with 7 etys if you recharge alkalines. If they get hot while charging then discard them.

But, now I run eneloops only and have no issues and the house has not burned down, no explosions, and none of the kids have developed any issues. I just re-packed the Li battery and it runs great also.

Thanks for all the great info from the members of Findmall!
