Battery Question for Explorer SE Pro

Martnessmonstr

New member
Hello,

Would appreciate some advice on this, I have used my SE Pro( bought new) for 20 months now, and the battery doesn't seem to be holding it's charge like it used to. So I guess it's getting time to replace it, so What would be the Best rechargeable battery for the EX SE PRO? And where would you buy or order one online?

Thank you.

You have a few options. Check with some of the battery experts in your area.... like batteries plus. They can MAKE you a rechargeable. Order a new one from ML... 1800 is the larger one. There are some EXCELLENT rechargables now available on the market that much longer than the ML ones. You know it might just be that you have learned the explorer better and are using different settings that challenge the batteries. Ive had mine about since they came out and use the rechargable most of the time. Ive not had any problems. You can get rechargables cheaper than the ML ones. One note..... the manual says NOT to use lithium or any batteries that produce to much power.

I bought a set of 8 rechargeable AA's at the store for the alkaline pack...and they work quite well...holding a charge for the whole hunting day.

You can also order a replacement rechargeable pack from any of the forum sponsoring dealers here on Findmall.

Thank you for the advice.

The AA rechargeable's sounds like a possibility.

My current batt. pack (the 1600) gives me about a long hunt and a half of hunting time, lasts about half as long as it did brand new. I'm not sure how important the batts are, but I met an Explorer hunter in the park who says he only uses fresh AA batts 'cause it gives him more depth.

Though when it comes to depth, I think the deepest coin I've found was a 1966 Canadian penny at 11", a beaver tail was right next to it. On average the deep ones I get are between 8" and 10", and if the coin is laying flat at eight inches my SE can pick it up w/ out breaking a sweat.

I don't mind charging my current batt. pack every night before a hunt( I try to leave 'em charging for 18 hours), but I can't help but wonder if fresher or stronger batts. can give you more depth.

Ill just say i did notice changing batteries on my DFX at half way seemed to improve depth. But the only thing i noticed on the Explorer is that AAs dont drop off as fast. There isnt any depth difference even when the rechargeable is almost empty. Thats why i havent went to rechargeables. Like i said rechargeables are cheaper than another ML pack.

I didn't notice any depth difference but I do notice my SE becomes slightly erratic about 5 minutes before the low battery warning sounds through the headphones. It just starts acting nutty a few minutes before my battery goes dead. Not sure if this is normal...but it does happen to me.
