battery power

I power my quattro with the new nimh rechargable batteries....The last time I took the batteries out to get recharged I noticed that on the battery container it says to use 1.5 volt batteries.,,but I also notice that the nimh battery is 1.2 volt....at eight batterys times .3 volts that comes up to 2.4 volts short...(am I making sense?)...Anyway is there a problem in running the Q on those batteries??? What kind of battery do you use and why???? Bud

Hello Bud, I don't think there are any problems using the rechargables but the Sanyo Eneloop brand would be my choice, they are rated at 1.2v, 2000mha, I use these in my other detector. The beauty of them is that they only loose a fraction of their charge in storgage, great for digital cameras too.

Hey Bud,
I use energizer and Duracell rechargables in mine. The Energizers seem to hold a little better charge, but both work just fine. The only thing is on your battery indicator on the screen it will only show full charge for a few minutes and then will go to two bars. It will stay at two bars for a very long time.

Thanks for reply...I do use enegizer batterys (2500) but the question is ....does it change the operative effectiveness by having less voltage than with the standard batteries...I say I can"t tell any difference in the operation of the Q but just throwing this question out there....Bud

Well... I am finding coins down to 12", and in one case nearly 14". Found 6 silver coins last weekend. I am using all 1.2volt rechargeable batteries. I would say if the batter meter is showing a charge the machine is running fine. If you have ever gotten a low battery shut down you know what I mean. The Quattro will definitely tell you if there isn't enough juice to make the machine run.

Good Luck,
Mark
