Battery power question

I have a Garrett 550 and have a battery power question. It has four bars but when it gets down to three I find it goes haywire and thinks there are coins in places there is not. It just doesn

I have a garrett gtax 550. I didn't have a problem until I went to rechargeable batteries. When the indicator went to 3 I sensed it lost a little power. After about two hours of hunting I stopped. Next day when I started to hunt again It showed 1 on the indicator. Could only pick up coins on the surface . I guess the 550 uses a lot of power so charging batteries at the three indicator or replacing batteries will become my routine.

Thanks for the information Bill, I contacted Mary and she is helping me with the problem. I do remember about 4 months ago I tried turning the detector on and it would star up. I thought my batteries were dead but they were fine. After a little while of thinking I opened up the battery case and one of the connectors that the battery ends sit against was rusted out . I am guessing this is why I am getting bad readings because there is a bad connection.

Maybe it's the brand of batteries you are using. Also rechareables when fully charged still lack the amount of juice that standard batteries have, but your 550 shouldn't pull that much juice.
