Battery Pack Project up date for the older Sovereigns

My concern with the older Sovereigns rechargeable packs are getting harder to find and expensive.Yea there is a sight that you can get these packs for over $30.00,but with the price of rechargeable AA batteries it may be better to make your own pack.Anyway the AA rechargeable batteries Blue babies 2600s(actual yellow batteries) 16 for .01 off of Ebay LOL shipping from Hong Kong $12.98 still not bad.I used white duct tape, solder, wire, and a female connector.Ten of these 2600s 1.2V should keep my battery pack in specs.I soldered the ends together and used wire to solder the bridges. After the connector wires were soldered I wrapped in duct just one layer. Before I added the connector itself I checked the battery pack with the ohm meter which was dead.My thought this is what happens when you pay .01 for 16 rechargeable AA batteries. After the pack was wrapped and the connector added the pack was charged overnight.OK now for the drum ro------ll the pack was plug in and the Sovereign fired up.The next stage is in the field to see how long this pack will last, which a break in the weather is needed for field use.

Depending on the charger an overnight charge for 2600 batteries is not enough, if you use the old sov charger that puts out 65ma it will take 40 hours to charge, and the newer GT/etrac charger at least 26hours, also new rechargables take 4-5 full charges to be able to reach the full 2600.

OOPs i forgot to mention when fully charge meter it before conecting to the detector as it may be over voltage as high as 16.5-8v, hope i'm not too late as i'm not sure if the sov has an over voltage protection

Kered, yea I keep checking with the ohm meter. At this point better to be under powered than a melt down that's one reason to stay with the old AAs Curious if you were going to build a 10 AA battery pack what batteries would you use. Thanks Ron

Hey Kered
could you email me a copy of the instructions of the detectorpro uniprobe if you have them???
Having same problem no one has posted any at all !!!!!!!
Thanks Albert Lopez

Can't send you pm as you don't have enough messages

I've got them somewhere will hunt them out, in the meantimejust put both dials fully anticlockwise, to get more sensitivity turn up the left knob till it starts to click then crack it back till it stops, the frequency control is just to help eliminate interference with the detector, its not much use.
I just run mine fully anticlockwise. not much more info in the instructions
