Battery life?

I was wondering about battery life on alkalines and rechargables with real use? I know rechargables are the way to go,But I'm kinda old school. Also after a charge if you don't use the detector for a few days does it loose much of it's charge? Also do you have to also keep the headphone module charged or doe's it take alkalines? If not that is alot of things to keep charged.

Battery will hold a charge for a long time. That is the nature of this type battery. The Alkaline batteries I found are good for really about the same time 10 hrs. I Tried them for one hunt and after 6hrs they were more than 1/2 dead. Remember that fron turn alkalines start loosing power right away. The recharable pack goes 10 hrs before they start to drop and only are concidered dead at a certian voltage, which is still pretty high. If your hunting with alkalines less voltage is less depth sooner!

After emailing Minelab I was told the rechargeable with everything on (GPS, Wireless and back-light) it will last 13 hours. The AA pack lasts about 8 hours with good alkaline batteries. I haven't gotten my 3030 yet to confirm.
