Battery Life

I have noticed when the Battery Check reads 10 volts that performance starts to drop. The manual says that 8 volts is when the low battery indication comes on, but I feel that waiting that long will result in alot of missed targets.
Has anyone tried using rechargeable batteries?

It reads 11 volts for the first couple of hours, I've never let it get below 10 cause it's like the Energizer bunny, just keeps going and going.
I don't know what the White's rechargeable is rated at, but I'm guessing it's no more than what I'm running at. HH
