Battery life on AT pro

mxt-user

New member
How many hours can I get on a fresh set of batteries on the AT pro? I got one coming in the mail that should be here Nov 27.
Thanks

On a good set around 20 hours of time ,Rechargeables are a good way to go.

Depends on how much targets/trash the machine hits on. Every target takes some power so a super trashy park might only get twenty hours while a gold prospecting trip or working someones yard more like 40 hours. Rechargables are going to be. less.
It's extremely cheap to run (about a dollar for AA's) and thank goodness it doesn't use the nive volt type. I would not have bought one (AT Gold) if it ran on nive volt. Serious.

From the land of the Bluenose....not sure how long but at what bar level on battery strength do you change yours? I wait till 2 bars left.

I started using the lithium batteries and they seemed to hold at full bars forever......normal energizers or duracell seem to last 16-20 hrs

I'm with MikeLab on this...one of the big reasons why I bought the Pro too...I know that sounds like a weak reason, but my other machine uses AA's and I wanted to keep things as simple as possible...anyway, after about 20hrs, I'm down to a bar or two, I run Iron Audio on, so that takes some juice so they say, so I take the half used up batts out of the Pro and pop them into my other machine and swing away for another 20+ hrs on them!...after that, they are plenty wore out and have paid for themselves abundantly! Also, I always have the pair with me so no matter what situation arises, I feel pretty good about the team they make.

At normal ambient temperatures, my rechargeables get about 10+ hours. I always recharge them anyways after 2 hunts and usually carry a spare set, which often times goes to one of my hunting buddies. In cold temperatures, you get considerable less hours on both rechargeables and alkalines, unless you use ENERGIZER LITHIUM" batteries which work well in extremely cold temperatures, but they cost more too.

Unless you hunt in extreme temperatures, get the rechargeable batteries which hold a charge for a long time. Normal nickel

Especially when exposed to many different temperatures. A 9 volt battery can run itself down to about 30%, yet when it is not used for several hours, the battery life indicates a higher performance, only to have the voltage drop suddenly, then quickly become useless. I have seen several users of machines using 9 volt batteries during a hunt start the hunt with a 9 volt showing a moderately good battery, only to have it die completely in a couple of hours. Machines using "AA" batteries are much more predictable in their battery management, including both alkalines and rechargeables.

I did my own testing with the energizer lithium. Not in a metal detector, in a laser. BTW, it burnt out after a few hours but it was very bright.

First off, the ones I got measured over 1.7 volts. Some go over 1.8 volts. I would never put that much voltage into an expensive machine. Then I found the lithium do not last seven times as long like they claim--more like twice as long but they cost five times as much so there is no reason to use them. Someone said there is a voltage regulator in the detector but that is for low voltage cut-off not high voltage protection. Otherwise why not use a twelve volt battery? I know some lithium now are not that high voltage but why take the risk? You don't save anything. Even if it doesn't kill it right away, it sure might decrease the life span of your detector.

The lithiums I use are actually used ones that were in Smoke detectors for 4 years. My buddy is a maintance manager of a large apartment complex. They change them every 4 yrs by code. Lots of them! But they work great in our detectors...Don't get any cheaper than free!

My experiences with battery life on the ace 250 is pretty good, but when it gets down to 1 bar that thing gives off wrong signals like crazy. I just got the at pro's factory batteries down to 2 bars, and the at pro started getting very chattery, so I replaced them.... not sure if the batteries were faulty, or if the at pro doesn't like getting down to 2 bars??? Or it could have to do with another setting of the machine or EMI, although I do not believe it is EMI. Haven't had a chance to get out and test them.

As for 9 Vs, I dislike using them, and am glad the only md gear I have that uses them is the GPP. The price on them is bad enough.

Have any of you ever used an md that uses the C or D batteries? Now those are $$$. My dad uses an older md that takes 8 C's I believe.

woul,d be nice to have a nice plug in battery pack for the at pro like white,s and mine labs use but you can buy big packs of double a,s and price not to bad plus at with good batteries last a good while so all said i,m a happy AT/PRO user

I've owned both machines you mentinoed and I did not like the battery set-up in either machine. The AT machines are as good as it gets for batteries. Very easy installation and no stinking nine volt's or C cells, or rechargables are just a pain.

I have to laugh about a machine that uses nine volt. The guy says you only have one battery--some sort of psychological BS. Yes, he savestwo or three ounces on the weight of the machine. Believe me, it is not worth it.

Hi
I have notice that when I'm using the Little coil 5" x 8" the battery runs out faster.
After 6 hours it lowers 1 bar of energy ,it also loses dept in the ground .
I tested it , by putting coins in the ground. The air test is no problem.
Used Duracell , varta, top craft and rechargeable

sorry for my bad English
greetings Antonio

I got rechargables and change at 2 bars.Takes most of the day to get down to 2 bars,my experience so far.I want to give the detector help by having charged batteries and frequent ground balancing, good luck you will enjoy the AT Pro.

Hi
Hunt yesterday in 3 grades Celsius in trashy field with rechargeable battery ,after 2 hours
battery one bar down
