Battery Drain ...

Willee - Texas

Well-known member
Anyone notice that the alkaline battery's will drain with the detector off?
Went to use my V3 today and the battery's were depleted.
The new pack of alkalinity's had about 5 hours total use on them before I left the V3 in the closet for a few weeks.

The Fisher CZ-6 had the same problem but that was corrected with the CZ-6A.

That does not sound right Willee and I haven't had that problem. If it only happens to the alkaline pack, I would guess a short in the pack somewhere or a bad battery.

Could be Larry ... it only happened because I was called to an unexpected job for a few weeks and did not take the V3 with me.
However, for the rest of this summer it wont get a chance to sit in the closet unused again. lol

Perhaps I will be able to test that again this fall ... maybe ...

With all White's detectors, some small battery draw is expected when battery is in and detector is off. Usually takes days or even a week to note, however, not a good idea to leave batteries in for several days and expect a full charge to remain. A price one has to pay for the best shielding against external noise and static. Good shielding requires a great ground, loop, loop cable, box, and PCB. All the foil lining in the world can not ground or shield as good as a solid aluminum box!
