Battery Capacity Issue?

My V3i is now 18 months old, and has a lot of hours on it. Yesterday morning, after being in the charger overnight, I noticed when I powered up that the voltage only read 10.39 volts instead of 11.09 volts or so that it usually does. The bar was also not showing a fully charged battery. This is the second time in the last three outings that I noticed this. Is this an indication that my battery is on its way out? The voltage leveled off in the 9 + volts range for the day.

I did manage my first two silver coins of the year, and flat button number 25.

I don't know how many cycles these batteries will last, but I bet you can get a new battery from White's with a call to service......

Congrats on the silver Neil, it must be a nice change from finding those old crusty coins and buttons from the early 1800's.........

I've got 3 rechargeable batteries. Two are original Whites and one is one I made myself. All are still charging above 11v. Mine usually charge around 11.3V. You might have a problem starting, a cell going bad. The charge is controlled by a thermistor in the pack. If it is the pack it should happen every time.

You should still be under warranty. The pack I made is 2500mah. If any of mine go bad I just might convert them to 2600mah also.

I've had a similar issue and just been dealing with it by re-seating the battery pack to restart the charge cycle. It has been intermittent, but annoying. I think if there's a weak link in the V3 product it's been the battery recharging reliability, I'll sing the V3's praises over and over..but the battery recharge.. has been a little disappointing. (you'd be hard pressed to pry the V3 out of my hands)

Hmmm.. I should still get the lil beauty upgraded to the V3i version.. it's probably worth it, frost is about gone.. and it's time to swing the hoop.

It is funny, but when I dug them yesterday I was trying to remember the last silver Washington quarter I dug. It has been quite a while. Even with all the old copper lately, I still love the look and feel of a 20th century silver coin.

I bet that service will replace any questionable chargers and batteries.....:bouncy:
