Battery and Speed questions

grumpy

New member
Morning friends; I got a couple of questions this morning. First the memory is not as good as once. The battery on the etrac when you recharge it from a brand new battery that is dead, the book says 18 hrs. how many of these do you have to do to get it to last the max? and what is the max life of a full charged battery? I have had several minelabs with these battery types but I forget the drill here. and can you forget these little bugers and over do it with the chargers,, I thought it would not hurt them to be on a day or two or three but i cant remember this either :) ???

Next with the fast on and deep on I seem to get much less detection with everything else set the same, gain ect when i turn the deep off. deep off and fast on seems to pick up less targets consistently and that does not seem quite right to me. ??? I have the gain up and i would thought that would comphensate for turning off the deep???

Using the stock coil with this new etrac. I dont think this is an ideal coil for coinshooting in parks from what i have experienced so far, my wifes F75 ltd so far is running circles around it :)
Thanks for any help ; Memory pills would be good too :)

I advice you to sell that battery pack and charger and buy the new RNB battery pack and charger, you wont regret it. Takes 2 hours to charge and last 30 hours plus.

ok I give; whats the new RNB battery pack deal???? thanks Grumpy, an i still would like any input i can get on the original questions. Thanks

Cant remember how long it takes but its a long time each time . And last an effective 10 to 12 hours . RNB , go on ! go for it. You wont need to worry bout charge times and detecting time again .

The only thing you will have to worry about is coming up with $130 for the battery and charger.

Mine has paid for itself in about a month , Brilliant battery.

It sounds like a great idea but if you have a brand new machine with a brand new battery other than the convenience of not having to charge the battery after every use $130 seems rather steep to me. If I were in need of a new battery I could see getting one.

How can it be expensive , it charges in 2 hours and last near about 35 hours . , i paid

Hi Grumpy,
If you buy a new Minelab 1800 Batt Pack it will cost you over $100.00 and you are going to still have the same problems with having to charge it for the 18 hours plus..
If your old Minelab Batt Pack is worn out or if you are tired of buying Alkaline Batteries your best bet is to get an RNB ML-2900 Lithium-ion Batt Pack..

They are only $129.99

If you don't agree after your first hunt that it is the Best Buy you have ever made for your Machine simply send it back for a full refund....

You can't go wrong with that deal.........

ok i got the battery idea; I dont need a new battery right now i have a brand new one and a case for aa s but i was wondering if it was possible to over charge the factory battery????

I dont like to crash the party but there is a great thread here on the fourm in times back about the Enelope 2500 mah rechargable batteries. For 40 bucks I got me some and a charger. They hold shelf life for over a year at 90 %. and take way way tons of charges over and over. You can look up the thread and read bout it yourself. I use them now in tons of stuff and they fit the e trac battery holder just fine.

I just thought Id let you know as 100 or more sounds like too much to me...unless it is getting supper electric power waves into the ground which I would call "the worm Killer" lol.

Look up the past threads.

I read on another forum that using that battery voids the minelab warranty? Is that true or not?

And as for my battery, when I plug mine in to charge I leave it plugged in until I am ready to hunt, been doing that for three yrs and it has never hurt a thing! Sometimes it is plugged in 2-3 days.

And a fully charged battery lasts all weekend no problem on my etrac, even after 3 yrs of charging, and thousands of hours of use.

I was also wondering if using the 2900 rnb battery pack would void the warranty ? That would not be good for using if it's true.

The RnB battery packs are so good that I purchased two, and I got 45 hours on one, and it only took 45 minutes to recharge it fully...nge

Read what Andy Sabisch says about the ML-2900.http://www.jpl-designs.com/rh-march-april2013/index.html

You can also Google the RNB Innovations ML-2900 and see what people are saying!

If you own a Minelab 1800 Nimh rechargeable and it it lasts all weekend you must only use it a about 2 hours Saturday and about 2 hours on Sunday. Then you have to charge it for 14 plus hours to maybe get another 4 hours out of it!

That's one of the reasons we developed the ML-2900 Li-ion for all the Great FBS Machines that Minelab designed...

But if you are happy with your Minelab Batt Pack........Then you don't need all this Long Lasting Power!

My RnB pack maxes out at 12.9 volts, Just under Minelab's 13 volt max allowable charge. So NO, I don't think it voids the warrantee........nge

I normally hunt 6 hrs on sat and 5-6 hours and sunday and the fully charged minelab battery will last all weekend........believe it or not. I have no reason to say something that is not true.
