batteries

Hey "SillyGirl",you can use rechargeables if you like.I use them as they seem to be the more affordable way to go for me.I know that if you have just a little luck, your going to find more than enough change detecting to at least buy the Alkalines of you choice.I have some rechargeables from "BatteryMonster".com.I purchased a two slot charger with two 280mah batteries/9volt.I would not recommend buying 9volts from the more popular chain stores, that we all go to,and you know the name that stars with "W",as they are 9volt in size and not actually 9volt,as the voltage of 7.2 is clearly visible in small print on the battery front, towards the bottom.I have heard these dont maintain the proper voltage required to operate a detector for very long.I think most BH det.start acting funny around 6volts...if you start with a battery at 7.2 actual,..that doesent leave you very long untill your detector starts acting funny.I hope this helps a little........."HappyHunting"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...ikandigit.

I use Radioshacks finest 9v. No issue with using them in my TR since you could park a tank in its battery box. Had to enlarge the battery box on my Discovery 2200 to fit them [they are 1.5mm longer than standard 9v]. Anyway no other issues from me...good luck to you.

Thanks for the info. Have had the detector 2 weeks and have had a few good finds. Still have the first set of Long life alkaline batteries and must have done close to 20 hours with them already. Next will be trying the 9V.
