Hi, Has anyone had any problems with their metal hydride battery. My one has had only 1 seasons use, put in storage for 6 months and now when I use it, the detector gives false accounts of battery charge level ie gives that whooping noise and either switches off or goes through the shut down motion and fires up again.(this is when I have fully charged the battery) This happens randomly. I know it's the battery as I used the spare case that allows regular batteries and it worked absolutely perfectly.

Neil, you might want to try cleaning the contact ends of the battery. There are two 1/4" metalic disks I believe they are nickel plated and can corrode. Scrape them till shiny. Don`t short them out though! When charging, after a 18 hour period the whole pack should feel slightly warm to the touch indicating the batteries are fully charged. Good luck & HH Tom..

My Lord we had or I should say I had a big go around with the Battery issue they are china junk made batteries and my XS is brand new and they made it run like crap.I had so many problems with it I thought what a junk machine but once I discovered the problem and fixed it this dog will hunt, and mine was only couple months old.

You may have a bad battery in the pack, did you recharge them before you put the pack away last fall?? If you didnt, one may have went completly dead and ruined the battery.
Do the contact clean first then recharge them again and if it still does this contact Minelab if the pack is only a year old and they may replace it for you.
I had one on my locals here with a problem such as this and we found the pack had a short in it and would act up and Minelab replaced it with no problem.
