Batteries

I have been researching 9V batteries. There are alkaline, rechargeable and lithium. The alkaline have about 1/2 the capacity of the lithium and cost about 1/3 as much, so they are a better way to go on a strictly cost per sweeping hour basis. The rechargeables are only 8.4 volts and about the same capacity as the alkaline I think and can be recharged 800 times.

Do any of you use the rechargeables in your BH? They may be the best way to go.

Also, are the two 9V batteries in series or parallel? If they are in series, then the unit needs 18 volts to run and three high capacity 6V sealed batteries on a belt and connected via a wire would out-last the small 9V by an order of magnitude, however there would be that pesky wire getting in the way.

Any thoughts or comments out there?

i recently started using rechargeable radio shack 9 volts worked good first time around out yesterday and 505 kept screaming then would shut down thougt my detector was brocken put in new copper tops all fine the rechageables were fully charged no low battery waring even low copper tops never did that any thoughts dissapointed thougt would be cheaper way to go:wacko:

[size=large]I use rechargeables in the BH LAnd Star...the ones I use are PowerEx, and are true 9V...They last about 12 hours on average...The 2 batteries in most bounty hunters operate different circuits on the board...One powers the audio amp, and the other, powers the transmitter/receiver as far as I have been told...
