I have an F-75 does anyone know what batteries are the best to use I have the Energizer Max,And the Duraccell Power Pix
your coments would be very important.Thank You.

its probably more a matter of preference than anything.
I had lots of problems with Duracells a few years ago..( A number of 9 volts dead in the opackaging... NOT a good thing when your miles from your vehicle in field in England)......so I switched to Energizers and havent looked back. As Scully says...the Oxyrides are great battereis too. You can get better buys in the discount stores..but you usually get what you pay for. As I said...any quality Alkaline will serve you well.................. Streak!

I've been running Duracell Alkaline's and get between 60-70 hours on a set and usually end up changing them out before they are totally dead. HH jim tn

As I remember--someone at Fisher told me once that if you use Oxyride Panasonics--you run the risk of burning the control box light out.--That must not be true if some of you guys are using them.--Do you think there could be anything true to their statement?---Seems like I heard that somewhere else to.--Anyway, I have shied away from them after hearing that (from using them on any detector with a panel light).---I'm just asking that question-because I wouldn't mind using them if there wasn't any risk in that respect.---Do you think they are worth the additional cost versus a good quality alkaline? (running time, operational, etc.)?-----Thanks, Del

I got some of the free ones they handed out at the N/S Hunt. My first 4 lasted a REALLY long time and didn't give me any trouble. The 2nd set really scared me. My first trip out after changing batteries, the machine was working fine and then all of a sudden it just went crazy. It was making so much noise I turned the machine off and then back on....and it never came on again. I thought something internal had gone wrong and I made the drive home sick to my stomach. I figured there was no way it could be the batteries...they were brand spankin' new. But out of my stubborness and my wife's understanding, she snuck and put 4 other batteries in it just to check it, after I ignored her pleas to try other batteries. And it came back to life. I got 4 lemon batteries out of the Oxyrides but that could happen with any battery I guess.

I went back to the cheap Rayovac batteries and they do a GREAT job for the price. The Panasonic guy at the N/S hunt said that the Oxyrides were being discontinued and another superbattery was suppose to be taking their place.

One bad battery can totally kill your power. If you dont have a voltage meter with you, you can try replacing one at a time with good ones, in an effort to find and remove the one bad one.
