Batteries for Vaquero?

EuropeanHunter

New member
Hello all:)

I am new Vaquero owner from Northern Europe and this is my first post.
I hunting old coins and relics and my oldest finds are from 16th and 17th century.

I like to know what kind of batteries you use with Vaquero, what brand and rechargeable or not?

Thanks aldredy and sorry my bad english:tongue:

I use the disposable Energizer Max. Don't buy the very cheap ones, you will be changing batteries more than you would like to.

Jeff

I have only used Duracell batteries in my Vaquero... with headphones connected they last a long time.

Any medium quality brand, as cheap as I can find them. You might not get quite the running time of the expensive brands, but at less than half the cost it is still a big savings. You might find as I have that certain 'cheap' brands will last every bit as long and even longer than the expensive ones.

My Vaquero gets either Duracell copper top or Energizer Max batteries, no cheap batteries for me. My experiences with cheap batteries is they are more prone to leakage than the good batteries.
check this place out for batteries....never bought anything from them but the prices look pretty good on AA industrial grade batteries........www.ebatteriestogo.com

9v (8.4) lithium polymer rechargeable batteries. 2+charger for $24.

I don't know how long they last but they hold their charge unlike NiMH which are almost dead after a couple days sitting in the detector.
I know there are supposed to be a version that holds its charge but I won't wast my money on any NiMH ever again.
Just an all around bad experience and waste of money IMHO.

I think NiZn are 9.2v andhold their charge well also. They might be a better way to go than the LiPo but I haven't tried them.

Im using energizer and they are doing pretty good. I tried some Radio Shack batteries and they went dead fast. Real fast.

I normally use Duracell or Energizer but I bought a Eveready Gold alkaline last time & it works just fine and has lasted well.

May I ask which ones? I am always up for saving a buc or two.

'likewise 9v alkaline'. In my experience these are great performers for the price. I buy 4 for around $10.00 . Compare that to 1 duracell on sale at 5 maybe 6 bucks. To top it all off, I find I get just as good or better battery life from the 'likewise' brand.

That's a brand we don't have around here. I may have to look into battery reviews and try to find one that is available in my area that may be a good one for less.

Thanks,

Jeff

I never heard of that brand before either Jeff. I did a quick "google" and noticed that they are available at Canadian Tire stores in Canada (just across the pond from me, St. Lawrence River that is).

I am one that likes to read product reviews, I will see what I can find that might be as good or better for less money. The thing is that some batteries do better than others due to either a slow amp drain or a high one. I wonder how much the V actually pulls on a nine volt?

Well after some online research during lunch I found a killer deal for my area, the best for the money is at Home Depot. $12.97 for a 6 pack of the Energizer max. They have the highest Mah I found (595) and at $2.16 plus tax I figure I will start buying the six pack.

This has been covered.

I recommend energizers...we have done tests here at work and the disposable energizers give us the longest life.

For my Vaq I have made a battery pack for 6 AA cells - now the MD works for weeks on one set of batteries.

No modifications are made, so you could shift back to use the 9V battery in 30 seconds.
