Batteries for MineLab

I notice that on ordinary metal detectors you can use either recgareable batteries or regular. Is this true for MineLab as well?
Robert

the sealed packs are 1.2 NIMH and there is a booster on the XS's circuit board that bumps voltage to 12 vs 10.6 so if your going to use Rechargables in the AA pack make sure you dont use 1.2 NIMH but instead use Rechargable 1.5 Alkylines. It just seems to work out better that way IMHO.
Also there are limiters inside the sealed packs to prevent overcharging and rate.

Mike,
You can use Nickle hydrides in the alkiline pack for the Explorer as there is only 8 of them in the factory rechargeable pack too. I got 1700Mah in mine and find they last longer than the factory rechargeables that I beleive is 1550 or 1600.
I use the Sunray charger to charge mine and have them for my other detectors too and use the Explorer pack to charge them.
Now the Soverewign has 10 of them in their rechageable pack and you cant use the alkiline pack as it only holds 8 batterys and you need 10 rechargeable to get the 12 volts.

Hi Folks,We have been using rechargables for over a year now with no problems and we also found that the nickel metal hydride 1300mah are the best.
They will also outlast the Minelab manufactures rechargable pack.
Keep swinging you guys,Jerry Bristol.UK.

Tried the 10.6 1.2s and maybe its just me but unit seems optimized at 12v vs 10.6v boosted to 12v.
