Basket Peddler

Agseeker

New member
Found something last Saturday I've never seen before. It's a Basket Peddler badge. It's 2 3/4 x 1 3/4" (7 cm x 4.5 cm). Looks like its made of copper. It had a pin solder to the back which is now missing.

It reads:
OKLA CITY
BASKET PEDDLER
22
EXP APR. 30,
1938

I guess during the Great Depression OKC was trying to get money any way they could; even making peddlers have a license.
Too bad its in such bad condition.

Interesting find Ag. Do you have a picture of it to share?

Very interested in seeing a pic Agseeker!...

I found both of these this past Fall in the water...brass, pins still attached on the back and they work...I would like to know what they are worth if anybody out there has any idea.
Mud...

Nice find....but try not to clean it. You can tell just how rare something is by trying to find a picture of it...and ya can't. In no matter what condition it is in....it might be valuable.

Hey guys...I tried a surf around Ebay and found very few "Peddler" badges for sale, I'm not very good with a computer machine to do a deeper dive into the history of Peddlers badges and perhaps even find the person they were issued to? I did a post regarding these ones I found last October titled "Peddlers Point Pirates" on the AtPro forum if you want to read the backstory...

Then I found a guy in Georgia that sells old badges sent him some pics and and called him...he was not very interested since he dealt primarily with old western Sheriff badges and stuff like that...I would think a Peddlers badge would have some sort of value or market?...even just as a cool thing for a Salesman to wear at a Trade show or something?
Mud

I found a few references to a google search using 'vintage antique peddler badges', none for yours.l There is a 'token catalog' but I dont think that would have it.

Sorry no pictures as yet. Looks very similar to the two that mudpuppy found only larger and with a very dark brown patina.
