Basic coin, jewelry model recommendations?

Hello, My brother and his daughter (14 yrs old) are interested in trying metal detecting. They know I have a detector and have seen my finds. I can't seem to find the time to lend mine out to them. So my brother thinks he would rather just buy a new one. I have a Minelab E-Trac, So I wouldn't recommend that for beginners.

Any ideas on a good White"s model for them?

Thanks,
Dan.

Basically anything from whites is a good bet.Having a 14 year old might mean that looking at one of whites lighter models would make sense. For simplicity and the performance of top end detectors the M6 can't be beat but it may be a tad heavy for a youngster. However,if they are sharing the swinging it should'nt be an issue. As far as i'm concerned the M6 is a stand out metal detector and one of the best ever made.....simply brilliant.

My bride is smaller than most 14 year olds and really loves her M6. It is a coin magnet, for sure.
However, if price in an issue, the current crop of Coinmaster detectors are quite capable and inexpensive.

You can't beat the M6 for ease of use and being a top performer. Put a Eclipse 5.3 coil on it and it balances very well and easier to use instead of the 950 coil that will come with it. Also the smaller coil will make it a little easier to start especially if you encounter areas with a little more trash etc. I use the M6 in ghost towns and other iron infested sites with great results. It really is a great machine and if they purchase one on or before Aug. 31st you will get the $100 bonus bucks that can be applied to the smaller 5.3 coil. Also the M6 is not a machine that you will grow out of as skills improve. It will be a machine to use for years and years.

Thanks for the replies. I will forward your suggestions to my brother and Katie (his daughter).
Dan.
