Baseball diamond success?

Where have you found jewelry on the diamonds? I have searched over a couple but never had any success.. Usually behind the backstop and benches is a lot of trash. Infield virtually nothing and outfield some clad. Most of my clad finds were in the grass between the infield and outfield. Even the really old fields haven't turned any silver for me. Any help?

I had heard someone mention that the outfield is a good bet. Someone might have lost a nice ring throwing that baseball to home plate. Or along any fenceline where people would be watching. Good luck !

Yeah, I found my first class ring in shallow center...it was a girls, 1997 and I got a hold of her to return it...I figured she was throwing somebody out, but no, she said she lost it at night out drinking there with some friends..it hit "pulltab" and was 4" deep...never got a nickle out of her for my trouble either...I found a 1910 barber dime right behind second base in the grass that was a good 7-8" deep. found a lot of clad along either baseline out to the fence...seems its a good place to sit for baseball clinics or something...found a heavy silver ring right past first base...So to sum it up, I work the outfield where the players are positioned, I work the outside of the fence where there are good vantage points, (not necessarily the bleachers) I work the shallow outfield where the shortstop and second base play, and anywhere around first base of course gets a lot of traffic...then, think of deep hits to the wall, or where diving catches are likely to happen...try to find where the girls play softball, (they usually play shallower than the guys, at least they used to) and sweep the shortest path from the field to the parking area (gotta nice 14 k there this spring) If theres a concession stand, sweep off to the side, or an area where a peson is likely to walk after purchase to hog down a hamburger, (not necessarily the tables) ...you will get coin spills and stacks, so if you hit one signal, sweep dilligently in that area a little. (just got a 4 quarter tight stack, with a outside dime along the first base line this week) ...It takes a long time to sweep any sports field, but based upon the dates and depths and locations of your first few finds, you should be able to tell if somebody has been there detecting in a while, if the most likley areas are picked clean, go with an obtuse strategy and search in spots that make sense, but are not likly to be hit, like even the trails that kids have used to go from one point to the other outside the fences...So I guess just sweep all of it to be safe Ism!,
Sorry for the long post, HH

Hunted a ball field at an elementary school a couple years back. Along the first base line and where first base coach stands was loaded with clad quarters, don't know why so many quarters, only found a few other coins there. Got a couple earrings from behind the back stop.

I like to get familiar with the activity of the players at different parks.. I check to see where they flop down to stretch before games. Change in their pockets has a chance to slide out then. Also I check where they take off their jackets while they are playing catch, the money has a chance to hit the dirt when the jackets do..
The actual field, well, I make sure to hit where the short stop may belly out in the shallow outfield and to each side of the centerfielder.

believe it or not,the infield has done me good over the years!
from shortstop to the second base area has yielded many coins for me
i believe this was due to infielders "diving" for ground balls;

On some fields I have had very good luck in the near outfield, say 50 or 60 feet beyond the base lines from first base all the way to second base. Not so much between second and third. Spectator areas and the grassy parking areas and along the fences out to about first and third base.

i got to do a good deed on a church ball field. a young lady lost her engagement ring playing. she just forgot to take it off before playing. they looked for two weeks, some with metal detectors. being a veteran cop/detective, when i was asked to look by a coworker, i did an interview. where did you play, where did you sit, where did you park. after an hour and a few clad on the surface, i rolled a faint signal in the dust behind the bleachers. the soil was cake flour, and i would hit the signal and then the fence and bleachers. i had to go sideways kicking the dust and finally got the dust with the signal isolated and there it was! the young couple were good Christians. the young man had not eaten meals, sold personal items, and done extra jobs to buy her the ring. she did not even want one, was the type to put the money toward a house. he was determined. she was heart broken at the loss and his sacrifices. i took the ring to coworker, to get it to her. they were meeting that night for another who cares who wins anybody play church game. i was able to return it in person, and watch the tears of joy. and was sent gift certs for 2 at the red lobster! mighty nice. i enjoyed helping. athletes like their bling! i could see running no disc and mopping up, with a mountain of button snaps too!

While i know coins are lost all around the baseball diamond infield and out field..I never dig in the infield to avoid having trouble with the numerous park employees that maintain the field....just abump left behind could lead to being banned so best to stay in the outfield....

Baseball diamond its self zilch out field yes first silver ring and silver necklace!Diamond gets raked all time by parks and rec I suspect they get goodies. Out fields are fair game thought.
