Barbers from the nail yard

I've been hunting a place I call the nail yard. I've been over it once so far with the regular coil and am going to go back and hit it again with the 6". This place is so stuffed full of iron that you can dig a hole anywhere, and get 2 or 3 nails or spikes. It's awful.

I am so impressed with the ctx and its ability to find anything in a mess like this.

Sorry. Here is the video.

Detecting History, do youind sharing what program you were using in yhe viddo? Sounds different than what Im use to, maybe just the Youtube audio. Were you in Canada or close by?thx

If the place has that many nails, a one time search with any one coil is not near enough even as good as the CTX is. I would consider at least 3 times with the stock coil and 2 times with the small coil. Just food for thought.

I'm using combined ferrous. I hunted it two was but ill be going twice with the 6".

Very nice finds.
How much improvement over the stock coil do you think the 6" coil has? I'm considering getting oone because, like you, I have a nail yard and a few trashy site that may yield some goodies.

I've used before in a similar spot. It seems to get in between the junk and hit more good stuff. It's just super slow hunting because its tiny

Great finds and I am really impressed with 2 things, First your getting out and digging in the mud in freezing temps, and second the ability to get the tiniest of signals on the edge of iron and still dig a good coin! I rarely get out if it is below 45 or so and those tiny 'edge of iron' targets are almost always a rusty bent nail for me.

Thanks jas415. I'm pretty hardcore I guess :detecting: the trick I find is to slow down. I did an average of 2lbs + of iron there but it does give me some beauties. I think the 6" is going to really make a difference at the "yard".

If you get a piece of a high tone, sometimes one way, dig it.

Cheers

Nice!

Do you ground balance or have it turned off? It would seem like it would have a tough time balancing with all the iron.

I don't in places like this. Ctx has an auto ground feature. I do t thinkmive ever ground balanced. Where I hunt the soil isn't really mineralized.

 Nice silver. You worked for it. Very nice video too. I like watching others show me how to do it. I am beginning to see pattern. I am probably not going to make finds like that, I don`t want to put up with what you did. Great job all around. :clapping:

Nice Oldies. You worked hard getting those out of the frozen ground. I rarely see American coins up here, other than pennies.

Hey GP. There are certain places I find them here. I just got an 1853 seated half dime tonight. Can even read liberty.

I find places like the nail yard produce if you can take the noise and the endless trash you dig.

Hopefully I can pop some out next week and get the next video up.

Congrats love the see thru on the CTX. WTG

I love those pivothead glasses. Makes it so much easier to shoot than hauling a tripod around
