Barber Quarter and Pre-1900 Dimes

Well-known member
Finds are from a partial Friday hunt and an all day Sunday hunt with "Silver King".
The 1904 Barber quarter was at an angle in the ground and about 7 inches deep.
It was a banging signal from the one direction with the Tornado coil.
The 1898 dime was a lot deeper and found close by along with the 1906 Indian head penny.
The 1899 dime was found at a different park and was also in the ground at a sharp angle.
The 1903 Nickel was also found yesterday and was a varying 8-9 inch low tone which dropped in the nickel range.

The 1934 Quarter was found on Friday along with 2 silver dimes and the gold plated pendant with the red stone.
I know the pendant has some age as it had good depth and was found in the same hole as a 1941 wheat penny.

The 2 padlocks are a "Slaymaker Rustless" and a 5 cycle. Slaymaker was a company that was founded in 1888 and also made steam powered vehicles.
The other item with the chain appears to be a very old women's watch. It read in the nickel range.

The 2 1971 Half Dollars were found in the same hole.

Coin Summary
Quarters are 1904,1934
Dimes are 1898,1899,1943,1946
Nickel is 1903
Indian head penny is 1906
18 Wheat pennies are back to 1919
2 1971 Half dollars

Killer finds - congrats !

Hey F.P.D.

Great finds once again! The 2 half dollars reminds me about 4 years ago when I dug 2 walker half's out of the same hole along with a silver dime and 2 wheat pennies.
I can't remember my 3 digit pin number on my debit card but I can remember what I dug 4 years ago. lol

Look forward to your next post

Very similar settings as Goes4Ever. Auto+3 multi conduct. Sometimes manual if conditions allow it. Iron mask @ 24 ferrous line.
Tornado coil most of the time. Stock coil at some sites.
Don't under estimate the effectiveness of a big coil in a junky site if you control your swing speed and hit targets from multiple angles and listen for the subtle signals.
I would put my setup on my Etrac and "Silver King's" Explorer XS against an XP Deus anytime.
All 3 are great machines when used to their max potential.

Thanks what do you think about a Sunray X-12?

Great finds FPD. I love using an open screen with the 24 line as well. Rarely use anything else. I'll be getting the Tornado very soon and can't wait to try it out on some of my sites.

I don't have a strong opinion either way on the Sunray X-12. I had one a few years ago and just used it a few times and went back to the stock
coil and sold it. I remember hitting on a 1927 mercury dime with it at about 8 inches within the first hour of using it.
The X-8 is an outstanding coil and I have used that in past years and logged hundreds of hours on it. That was our fairgrounds go-to coil.
We would hit a lot of Indians/wheats/mercs 7-8 inches with that.
