Barber Dime

Been finding a lot of clad lately but no silver ,today I went to a wooded area in a park in my town ,they have been clearing, i used coin & jewelery mode but added accept to -50 sure lot of junk in the ground. got a dime signal turned out to be a 1893 Barber dime ,Made my day Don Tyler Merrimack,NH

Yes.. it's good lesson to learn. Wooded area's weren't always wooded in some parks. I had researched an old park in a former town I lived in and found old pictures of people sitting on the hillsides for picnics. Went to the park and that hill was covered with 50 yr old trees. I decided to hunt the woods (hillsides), and was nicely rewarded for doing so. Found some really great stuff.

It pays to look at those old pictures doesn't it. Have done the same. Great find - the barber! Wonder what made it so dark? Soil conditions perhaps?
