Bandito II salt Mod

Monte,
Do you know how to modify my Bandito II to work better on wet saltwater sand? This is a great detector just wish I could use it on beaches with out so much noise and falsing. A schematic and instructions would be great. HH, Joe

The problem most people have is that they try to use the All Metal mode's GB control to cancel out the low-conductive wet salts. In trying to do so they end up with a too negative GB setting and this results in annoying falsing in the Discriminate mode.
Things to remember are:
► Do not hunt towards and away from the surf line. That moves you from dry sand to wet sand, and thru different deposits of varying mineralization. Work with the surf line in order to stay in the same/similar mineral strata.
► Set the GB in the most negative mineral strata you can find at that particular beach. Sometimes this will be way up high on the dry sand, but it is quite often out in the damp or almost damp zone, but before the real wetted salty sand. An area where there has been a good deal of deposition of more mineralized sand.
► Once you have set the GB for the most negative ground at the beach, leave it alone! If you move on out into the wetted, salty environment, it isn't the GB that needs adjusting, it is the Discriminate level. Bob the coil towards and away from the sand, going from about 6"-8" down to about

I was skeptical when you told me this approach quite awhile ago but have since done it and it works like a charm. Experience breeds knowledge.
