BANDIDO & ROYAL SABRE QUESTION

RELIC_HUNTER

New member
I have never used the Royal Sabre and last week I saw my first one. I have been a Bandido user [ First One ] since day one..Can anyone give me any pro's & con's about Royal Sabre compared to the Bandido.....Thank's...

If I remember correctly the Royal Sabre did not have manuel ground balance. It also had more bells and whistles like tone ID, notch, and surface blanking. I liked the Golden Sabre Plus and Golden Sabre II better. I think the Pantera was the best of the bunch with manuel ground balance. Don't see many of those around anymore.

IT's been many years since I owned a RS but it's one helluva detector. I have also owned the Bandidos, Golden Sabre, Silver Sabre,Compadre, Cutlass, Sidewinder, Diablo.

I have a Royal Sabre and it's never been for sale. I can use it in normal discriminate and adjust the notch level control and it will give 3 tones-low, mixed and high. Tabs are in the mixed zone separating the low tone nickels and high tone coins. Or I can switch it to notch for trash areas. It's lowest disc level (except for it's true all metal pinpoint mode) is a little high-about the bottle cap level which will not pick up very small pieces of foil... I once used it in the ACCEPT only notch mode and found a Silver half at about 8". You can actually set it to only accept a narrow band of targets and it has a toggle for "disc", "notch", and "accept". I quit using the blanking feature after the first time I tried it as it blanked out (almost) a surface quarter. My 8" coil was bad when I got the detector and that's why I got it for $75! I now have a 4" coil, as I use it mostly for trashy areas-but I am about to order the 5.75" coil to speed life up a little! It will be with me the rest of my life.

I truly feel lucky. I kept thinking modern technology would overwhelm the Royal, but in trashy areas it's still hard to beat. I think the 5.75 coil will let me use it more often and still maintain it's trash use.
