Bandido ll uMax ....Questions On Setting Up Controls.

Hi everyone ! :)

I am currently hunting in All Metal mode so as not to miss any gold, but plan on using Discrimination mode in the future after gaining more experience with this detector. So, if you have the time and inclination to answer these questions for Disc. mode in addition to All Metal, that would be great.

Questions:

#1..What is the correct sequence for setting the controls on a Tesoro Bandido ll uMax ?

#2..Why Should a particular control be set next ? (For example, if not done next, would that have some negative effect on detector performance ?)

Thanks !

I don't think it really matters which is done first in all metal. I believe you do want to have your sensitivity set before you GB while in Discrimination mode.

Interesting post, ....... I just today picked up an excellent old Bandido II uMax.

Many many years back I had one and just loved it. It was my first Tesoro and I used it extensively for a couple years. Since, I have had a Cortes, Lobos, and many of the other high dollar machines made by other manufacturers. When I saw this Bandido II I just had to get it. Now I have to refamilarize myself with the machine. Can't wait for it to come.

Any of you old Tesoro guys, ..... how does the old Bandido II uMax compare with some of the new Tesoros today? What are your opinions of the old Bandido II uMax?

Todd,

Study the old manual and give the machine time. Once you get to know it, it is a great machine and will hunt with the best.

Howdy Guys

The manual describes the procedure very well, I got my Bandido ll uMax before I ever had access to the internet. I learned to G/B with my Tiger Shark, and I have done it enough that I can G/B almost anything blindfolded. Then I set the disc. at a tolerable level for the amount of trash present at the sight I am hunting at. If targets are few and far between, I will hunt in autotune allmetal, and with a flip of the switch to disc. mode I can check a target at my disc. setting. HH......Hombre

Threshold (slight hum) and sense (usually around 7-:geek: has to be set with disc at minimum before you can ground balance (with the switches in autoretune and all metal). Switch to disc. Now you an play with the discrimination knob to your hearts content. The threshold won't come into play while in disc mode (unless you supertune),

Thanks Dang, Zectron2348, Hombre and Hightone for your replies.

HH !

for searching in the All metal mode, then the sequence is to toggle into the Discriminate mode and set the Discriminate level at minimum. Go hunt!

There is no specific 'sequence' other than making sure you have a "proper" or "functional" Ground Balance.

I hunt with several detectors, one of which is my Bandido II

Thanks Monte ........the way you simplify things is great.........you should be writing the Tesoro manuals (for pay, of course !).

Why in the world did it take them pages to explain what you just did in a few easy to understand paragraphs ? I have a technical background, but had to study the manual intently for weeks and finally had to brief-it-up, making sure to include all of the special instructions, and make pocket-size reference cards, as I could never keep it all straight in my mind and still didn't feel like I had mastered the operation ! I never had this kind of trouble with my Garrett Ace250 or White's Classic II.

I know how to GB according to the Tesoro manual, so with your help I should be OK now.
