Band of brothers.

I know i'm about 10 years too late but I have just opened my box set of band of brothers and sat down and watched it.All I can say is that if you have'nt seen it just go out and get it and take the time to watch this brilliant series about easy company and the 101st airborne in ww2.
This series gives a very accurate picture of what these young men went through while fighting for the freedom we enjoy today and it makes you realise even more how much we owe to the brave men and women who served in past conflicts and who are serving in the present.
The series is made even better because some of the veterans who are portrayed in the series talk about their experiences and the close bond they had with each other.

God bless every last one of them,we owe them more than we can ever repay.

I also liked that series myself , and completely agree with you about the courage and debt we owe the men that fought in that war . Theres another good series out . It's about a Marine Corps platoon in WW11 as well . It's called The Pacific . As an old Marine myself , I may be a little one sided on which one is the best , but theres no doubt about Band of Brothers being an excellent movie and with the interviews with some of the actual veterans of that company just adds to the movie itself .

Reading this thread made me think of an old friend. I'm a Hospice volunteer and in my volunteering I often visit nursing homes and Alzheimer's units. On one such occasion, I noticed 2 gentleman sitting at a table, I greeted them and introduced myself. They were both B-24 pilots during WW2. Over the next few months whenever I saw them I would sit down and, if they could speak, I would listen to their stories of flying and the horrors of war. On one occasion, I said: "Jim you should write a book." He said: "I have written a book!" As an Alzheimer's patient I realized that their statements are not always 100% accurate. When I got home, to satisfy my curiosity I googled his name and sure enough, he HAD written a book - IN HOSTILE SKIES. I ordered the book and eagerly read it. On one of my visits to that facility He autographed it for me. It's one of my prized possessions. Jim flew over 25 missions in Germany, France and the Netherlands in 1944. What an honor it was to meet and know this true American hero. A few days after he passed away, I went metal detecting (my therapy) and dug a WW2 Aircrew Wing. Best of luck and...
