Badges

I posted this just now on the relic forum and thought you might like to see it. Steve

Here's a sheriff's badge my wife eyeballed at an old long gone RR site. The pin is on the back and all's intact yet. I wrote the Alameda Sheriff's office in Calif. and they said they started putting numbers on badges in 1916 so I can date it somewhat.

And here's one of two badges alike that I dug. Having A.T. (for Arizona Territory) on it makes it more valuable. Az came into the Union in 1912. I sold the other one but kept this one. It had a hole in the top of the point (broken now) where a key was attached. I went to the Historical Society and the guy brought out an old Sanborn map and we saw the saloon - - plus several small huts behind it. He said it was a cat house key.

to dig an old badge like those! I got a jounior sherrif badge, and a G - man badge, but those are just antique toys.

I've found a few toy badges and the only real badge I can recall finding was a 1924 Caddy Badge from the Evanston,IL Country Club. My sister's husband is a golfer and I gave it to him.

Never heard of a caddy badge but I guess some places want people labeled who work there. neat find, steve i nso az
