Bad news -> Good news.

Bad news. Last night I got a phone call from a buddy who I go to Nascar Races with and he had to cancel our plans for Texas in November. He offered me the tickets if I wanted to use them but I told him the best part of the race was spending time with the group we go with so I had no use for the tickets. He said he could sell them easy and we made plans for a spring race at either Bristol or Texas.

Now the good news. I had a fat envelope full of cash designated for the trip, and as my birthday is only a couple of days away, I splurged and ordered a 2500 GTI with all the bells and whistles they are offering at present. $934.95 shipped which I thought was a great deal.

Now the really bad news for you guys. I'm sure I'm going to have a million questions in the coming weeks and I hope you will all be as nice and helpful as you were when I joined this forum with my Ace 250 concerns. I expect the learning curb will be a bit steeper with the 2500. The agent I spoke with said I should have it tomorrow or Friday at the latest. The place is only 180 miles away. If it was 60 miles closer I probably would have driven out to get it.

I started with a Grand Master Hunter 3. When dad died I got his 2500. I still am trying to figure it out but I hunt with it more than the GMH3. I like the talking part of it. I can't figure out why it lies to me so often because I treat her right. It's a good machine and the only one I've seen that can beat it for depth is the Minelab and am not sure which one the guy has but it's like a coin magnet or he's just luckier. You'll enjoy it.

Thanks Grandad. I feel like it's Christamas Eve and I'm 10 again!

Hey good for you bud. Now the adventure begins. Just pop in anytime you have a problem. The 2500 has a bit of a learning curve but you got the best and with the new chip you can nuggetshoot with that puppy..

Thanks Uncle Willy. Your posts are among my favorite on this forum and boy have you been prolific!

Looks like it will be delivered Friday. Im gonna do a rain dance today and hope the ground softens up a bit.

My first question is which coil would you start off with? Stock or 12.5" imaging? I am planning my first hunt at a school where I have popped at least 1000 coins and 2-3 rings. There are a few small areas I have checked very thoroughly. I'm interested to see how much more the new detector sees.

I'll try to keep questions to one or two per post. I read the manual online last night and I see I have a lot of learning ahead.

great news! Glad to help sometime, i have the GTI 2500 and you will love it. Quite a pro unit for sure. And all metal is deep! HH Alan

Stick with the stock coil for awhile until you figure out how it all works. This machine has a bit of a learning curve.
