Bad luck hits me again.

Sold all my detectors and just about to buy another inexpensive unit--detecting withdrawals. Had to pass on it.

Talk about bad luck for the past 8 months, back injury, wife with serious medical issues.......one reason my wife is now back in Canada. Medical was killing us here in Georgia--USA. I'm still stuck here waiting for immigration papers.

And today, on my way to work, the timing belt on my 1998 Dodge Caravan broke. It's either going to be $400.00 plus two days off work or $2500.00 if the valves are bent. A lot more than the van is worth. It can go 50-50.

It may force me to junk it, look for a junker and or rent a car.

Will definitely have to try and find a second job, that are tough to come by here.

Worst thing is I am immigrating to Canada in 4 months.
I was hoping to get at least 4 months out of it and then sell it, too expensive to import into Canada.
And this, now cutting heavily into my funds for moving. I'm up against the wall at this point.

I will be selling bunch of odds and ends I have left, check my website for the link to my auctions, will put some more stuff up tonight.. Thanks

Wish me luck, I'll need it.
Still haven't found that treasure chest full of gold and silver.....it's out there somewhere.

Hope to add some more interesting treasure hunting stuff to my website as time permits.

Sven,
My heart aches for you and your wife. My prayers are with you both. We are fortunately well and have good insurance coverages (we think). A couple months ago the head gasket blew on our 1997 chevy venture van. Van has no rust but isn't worth fixing. Taking it apart in the gravel driveway this time of year doesn't work well either. We picked up a 1995 geo prizm for less than the best van repair estimate ... and consider ourselves lucky to find that.
Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear all that sven, I will pray for you , this american medical sistem is broken by the inshurance companys i was just at the hopital visiting my grandma and i could see the nurses wher just worn out working 12 hr days they all looked so tiyerd all for some bean counter who is making things more profitable for the co.. but i think its less profitable when nurses are so tiyerd that they make mistakes that cause death and lawsuets we need what canada has and i woul have a 8hr work day for nurses working when you are half asleep is like working drunk just as dangerouse hope you can get settled down again and we can hear of your good finds Gunnar

It was costing my wife approx. $1500 a month on precription drugs here in the US, she had a good paying teaching job. But, the $$ was going to medical every month, we just couldn't save and get a head. So after 5 years here in Ga, it was time to go back. seems like Georgia you can make a lot of money but, go broke just as fast. I was better off in NY buying & selling collectibles and fishing gear... never a problem making money. Come down here mostly because my wife got a terrific job. I ended up not being able to find good collectibles and fishing gear, everything is new down here. That's because most Georgians came from other states and sold off all the old stuff etc.
Anyways after two years of trying real hard to make it, I gave up and got a real so to speak 40hr week job. Too bad they don't pay well down here anymore. So most of my savings went down the tubes. Hopefully, by moving back North after the next few years I can get back on track.

Keep digging guys
Sven

Oh man - sorry for whats happening. Hope the wife gets the best outcome. Medical is important and ain't always cheap. Ya gotta do what ya gotta go.
On the Dodge, find out if you have an interference or non-interference engine, will give a somewhat idea of the chances.
I guess I been fortunate. I work, but not the wife, college kid, his gal, and grand daughter, neither do the dogs. I have to support em all. And it ain't cheap to keep up 4 vehicles, bills and keep chows in their mouths. Then they all get money from me, except the dogs. And when I get home, the dogs are are always at the door jumping for joy and just so happy to see me - I can go out for 2 minutes and they greet me when I walk back in every time:blink:
Take care of that back also - not something to take lightly. GL

I got lucky this time, the 2.4L engine has high relief pistons head clearance, most don't.

Goodyear put in a new timing belt and a new belt tensioner kit.
Apparently the tensioner must have worn and either tightened or loosened the belt and it broke.
Setting me back about $650.00
They started it up today and it runs perfect. I was sure sweating bullets. It's a shame it happened this week,
when most of my utility bills and mortgage is due.
Looks like I'll be paying late charges as I don't get paid again for another two weeks.
So gotta sell some stuff to try and catch up.
I should be updating my website soon, had requests on super tuning the Minelab Sterling, should work with the Colt also.
Found some more diving pictures of stuff I found in Buffalo Harbor years ago, will have to scan and edit them and finally post them
on my website also.

If anyone has some other interesting mods, I can include them also. I would like to expand the treasure hunting page.
