BAD DEAL FROM SILVERMAN

hauk

New member
I just received the scoop from silverman, he advertised it as "STAINLESS STEEL, The scoop is not as advertised, It is made of ALUMINUM, I always tend to take the people on this fouum at their word and this is the second time I have been deceived, I cant believe that he did not know the difference, The weight alone would tell him that, Well "BUYER BEWARE"

Curious have you contacted him to see if he would refund before making this post or after?

Sometimes people make mistakes and deserve a chance to correct that mistake before being judged.. had a case on ebay like this. Buyer left feedback before he contacted me. Once i saw he left neutral feedback i contacted him and sent the missing trading card to him. .

and i mean no disrspect.

Brian (Silverman) is a good man & a man of his word.----Get in touch with him and I'M SURE he will make it right for you.---Everybody makes mistakes once in awhile and I can GUARANTEE you that Brian is not out to "take" anyone.---Have you even been in touch with him before you posted this?------Del

This is the 1st I've heard of this. Del, thank you for the kind words old friend. Corpsegrinder, thank you as well. hauk never contacted me at all about this. I have had over a dozen deals on here, and not a problem yet. Here is my exact reply to hauk when he asked if it was stainless, because I do not know water scoops, and NEVER put in the classifieds it was. I posted pics, weighed, measured, and tested it, and STILL told him I was not sure. I even went to the RTG store to research it, because I could not tell the difference, I did not find any aluminum scoops on the site. Here is one the many posts I sent him post:

The rgtstore website says it is stainless steel. I read that pure steel is non magnetic, and only becomes magnetized if nickle is added. The weight makes me think it's steel. (6.5lbs on my bathroom scale), But I hate to say for sure.

I may have made a mistake, but I would not intentional rip anyone off. All I'm guilty of is not knowing much about scoops. Hauk did not, and has not contacted me in any way to try and resolve this. Hauk, why don't you contact me like a man, and we will go from there.

Wow ...

Could it be possible he sent the wrong one?

Have you spoke to him or tried to contact the guy about it?

I am sure you are disappointed but I think you are a bit hasty in reporting a ripoff.

PS, I was not cursing above, the word before store that is censored is the name of the store, and I guess it is a censored word. It was Reilly's store, hope it shows this time, they are a sponsor.

Also, thanks Willee, I am the seller, and no, I was not contacted.

Contact him and he will take it back,,He is very honorable.and a no worry person to deal with..'Fact"

The right thing to have done..was contact Silverman ( Brian) before posting Sir.. He is a really honest, nice, trustworthy person.
No disrespect intended toward you either.. Honestly !!

I thought a feedback forum was to describe the outcome of a transaction, I did exactly that, I don't expect my money back, I should have checked it out before I bought it, If any of you are interested check out silvermans posts and read how he describes his Stainless Steel Scoop. I do not believe him and feel that he knew it was aluminum and used misdirection to sell it, I am entitled to my opinion as is anyone else, This matter is closed as far as I am concerned. I expected Stainless and got Aluminum.

Thanks Elton. This guy just wants to pick a fight. He knows he got a heck of a deal, and does not want to return it, or he would have. Please do check out my posts, as it does not say "stainless steel" anywhere. I did not even know stainless steel is better than aluminum until today. I am an honest guy, and let Hauk know I was not sure if it was aluminum or not due to all of Reilly's scoops that I could see on their homepage are non-metallic stainless steel. I gave him the weight, measurements, ect, and still told him I could not be sure it was stainless steel. He got a great deal on a great scoop, and obviously does not want to settle this matter, so be it. Everyone else I've dealt with knows I would NEVER take advantage of anyone else. I am a former police officer and a proud Christan, and my morals should not be questioned. Hauk, best of luck, I'm sorry you are unhappy, but you should have given me a chance to make it right before blasting me on the feedback forum. That being said, we will never deal with each other again.

It's not my business to answer you but your wrong to a degree. If after all means of communication fails thats the time to post a bad opinion about a fellow member. Or if you have information on a person whom you know is bad...then by all means post it..it's appreciated by all. You seem like a nice guy who felt wronged..but as myself, and others have stated..Brian "Silverman" is a top notch person..Human, and not infallable, like all of us..I have a scoop myself..and I have no idea whether it's stainless steel, or Aluminum, or some other material...........it didn't rust in the ocean or loose it's finish. But then again ,I guess aluminum doesn't either..Give the man a chance..he will make it right..To error is human...to make it right is "divine'.......He will make it right, I know the man..he's honest..Give it a shot, you will be done right..

Respectfully,
Elton

I personally do not know SILVERMAN and I have never done any business with him, but I have been around the forums for many years and have done and still do alot of reading, I like to learn all I can about detecting/detectors/ and the people involved, etc. After a person has been around for long enough you sort of get a feel for a person, kind of like knowing them without actually knowing them (if that makes any sense). I beleve that SILVERMAN is a good guy, I have never heard/read any negative about him ever & believe me bad press gets around quick. But as mentioned we are all human and can make a mistake, if this was the case I think that it would be righted if given the chance. In my opinion 99.9 and a half % of the people involved in this wonderful hobby are good honest people. Knock on wood, I have done many many transactions both buying and selling and have never had a bad deal. Thanks! Steve.

Perhaps next time you woudn't be so quick to blast off a nasty gram. For what it's worth, I bought a vibra probe from hauk and I reiterated the point he made that it was like new and his reply was. "Yes it is like new, I have only had it in my front yard to see how it worked, I used it twice for a few moments". When I got the probe, clearly it was well used and used more than twice. Cut people some slack Tom, I cut you some on this deal.

as everyone else has chimed in.... i thought i would too....
i back pedaled and found the post with the deal..... the pictures ( which are nicely done ) enlarge when you click on them.... right there in plain sight is the sticker from the manufacturer... with the web site.... and phone number.... it would have taken anyone 5 minutes to verifiy what model it was...and what it was made of....
In my opinion.... i cant see any level of deception.... it was all right there in plain sight.... if i understood what i read correctly.... the final purchase was 120.00 shipped.... as the scoop in the pictures appears to be in great condition.......i figure that's about what that scoop is worth.... so i don't see anybody being taken advantage of..... if the scoop had in fact been stainless..... silverman would have been the one getting the short end of the stick.... and i'll bet he would not have complained.....

Thanks thepest. I appreciate that. I've never intentionally tried to scam anyone. I just do not know a thing about scoops.

Will a Mod please just delete this post all together, we already know that silverman is a good guy and this post should have never been made.
