Bad Day Today

Today was not a great day. Just before taking my Daughter to her Drill Team practice, a Local store caught on fire and burned. This Store was the most used Store in the City and owned by Friends.

I took my Daughter to her Horse Drill practice. Got to practice I let one of the Dads borrow one of my Detectors and we detected a while. I found several coins and he was very impressed with my Deleon. Ground was so hard I hit several of the Coins and bent them while digging. We eventually give up trying to dig.

Then my Daughter got sick and I had to rush her home.

I did find at least 20 coins and I have no idea how old any of them are yet. I doubt they are old at all but I am always happy to find Coins.

how did you bend a coin ????

Using a Digger that is shaped like a pick Ax. Ground here is just like pure Rock right now. No such thing as using a knife or one of those cute little diggers that everyone else uses.

Raises her glass to an early Summer and soft ground!! (and your Daughters fast recovery & store rebuilding...how awful!!)

Riesel TX where we badly need a rain.

Man, I really feel for you guys.

All I hear from Texas detectorists these days is how the ground is like concrete.

Hope you folks start getting some decent rain soon!

When detecting really hard ground and a spot that I am allowed to use a pick to dig I aim the pick past my target so that as it digs in the soil it lifts is were the coin will be..never at the coin...
Only place I ever could do that for recovery was on ski slopes in ca.

I was detecting (Texas) the other day and got a dime signal underneath an old asphalt parking lot. I chipped up a chunk and it sure was a dime. But the strange thing is the asphalt was easier to dig through than the surrounding ground.

That's a great tip! I've heard of a lot of people bending the coin by digging
