Bad Coil?

Active member
New XP user, only have about 5 hours behind it. It seems the depth is not good. It may be for a few minutes and then goes back to (air tests) needing to be 3 inches from coil to get VDI. At this point I have only found deep iron and shallow clad. Starting to loose trust in the unit. This happens in all of the stock programs and a few that I have found here and there. Am I doing something wrong is is it possible the coils is junk?

Does not sound normal to me! Try Disc 3.5, Freq 11.7, no notch, reactivity 2, silencer -1 gain 5, and a 3 tone program. You can use the same tone breaks as in the factory program. Should be able to air test a quarter at around 12+ inches.
VDI depends on the size of the target and distance. Dont get hung up on that. The key is how deep you hear it.

I think I figured it out. I was at 18kHz. Still learning, I ordered the Deus Handbook. I think I already have a good grasp of the machine. Now I have to make the decision between my CTX3030 and the Deus. As I get older and arthritis kicks in(hereditary), I have to shed the weight to enjoy the hobby.
