any one no what to do with coins that are damaged due to being in the ground so long they are eat'n away ? i took some to the bank and they wouldn't replace them .. should i save them and send them to the Treasury

They make a machine that would accept these rotten zincs, and then they could turn them in to the treasury for a rebate...If Coinstar were smart, they make them to accept ALL different nationality coinage, and pay the daily rate, as well as silver coins too, and pay the daily silver rate minus just a little. I save those rotten zincs for some reason, and dig plenty of them hoping for a Mens Gold ring someday, maybe when I pour a new concrete anchor for a boat, they will be added to the cement for aggregate!...I also have 5 Q's and a dime for most of this year, that the Coinstar will not accept no matter what I try, cleaning them, sanding them, lemon juice, vinegar, catsup, even with plumbers flux, its got to be sort of a game between me and my local Coinstar machine...it just once again rejected them this morning, for at least the 10th time this year,, so maybe I'll heat them up with a torch, and try the flux again.

I got a lot of corroded coins like that, Those zinc pennies sure don't last long do they?

All you guys that don,t want them just send them to me. I take them to the bank and get my money, they are U.S. coins and they will take them. I don,t take mine till i get $40.00 or $50.00 then the bank can return them to the mint and get there money back. Some i turn in are just half Penny's but you must tell them that they need returned to mint so they don,t give back out as change to stores. Flintstone

Simply slip a couple in a roll of pennies from time to time. Bank cashes the roll, goverment gets back their junk money.

Banks has coins rolled for stores to use as change, If they don,t know they are in there then they get put back out in circlelation, and you don,t want that.
