Well with temps in the teens and the ground frozen I am stuck inside, unless I want to brave the cold and head to the pines of NJ. Nah, I will just stay by the fire and reflect...
I got out early last week and hit a site that had an old mill and was near a village that was a stop on the underground railroad. I found a bunch of flat buttons, ranging from about 1800 to the 1850's, some unidentified copper items and one item that was so small I almost threw it out. It appears to be a mojo or voodoo charm. The buttons are a Scovill button, a Trebly Gilt Button, and an early 1800's button with an eagle on the back. Oddly enough the only coins I produced were a 1941 Quarter, a 1944 penny and also a Tootsie Toy!
