Backyard Finds

Took my MXT with the 12X15 SEF coil to the back yard today. I have covered that yard with smaller coils for the last 8 months and have it pretty well searched out except for a little iron. I found a Chauffeurs licence deep the other day with the big coil. Today I found a Hot Wheels Dodge pickup at 10 inches among some clutter. It seems like there is more good stuff 9 inches or deeper left for me to find. I can't wait to go over some of my old hunting areas with the SEF coil to look for Things I have missed. The truck is in bad shape. I just wanted to share my happiness with the new coil.

That sure looks like a Tootsie Toy truck vs Hot wheels. Which would make it an old find. Does it say Hot wheels on the bottom or is it open with just the axles? Just curious. HH Dennis in Idaho

Definitely a Tootsie Toy. Those are so cool to find. I'm sure you'll be finding more and more with your new coil. Great find! It's nice to see others detecting. It's been too cold here for me to be out. Maybe this weekend we can hit a few school yards or so. Thanks for sharing and HH to all, Nancy

Thats cool I found one with the same kind of wheels, but never gave it much thought that it was old. So is mine a Tootsie Toy Too?

I sure looks like one. Check for writting on the inside. If its a Tootsie Toy it should say. HH Dennis in Idaho

I was just looking at a car that i found not long ago.Couldn't make out the words on it until this post. Now i look at it and i can see tootsie toy. Also Chicago.Where these made in Chicago? And do you know, how old they are.COOL FIND !

They date back to the early 1900's. I don't recall whered they were made. HH Dennis in Idaho

Here's some info I found out about the Tootsie Toys on the web.

TOOTSIE TOYS
MODELED TO A "T"! The diecast toy car business made its debut in 1906 when the Dowst Brothers Company of Chicago made a miniature Model T Ford. The early vehicles were called TOOTSIETOYS, named after one of the Dowst Brothers' granddaughters, "Toots." Today, Strombecker, the maker of TOOTSIETOYS, produces over 40 million cars per year.

Here is the one that i found.I was detecting an old homestead next to my house. It was called Trask House ,it was an old stage coach stopover. It burned to the ground during the first Tillamook burn. Not exactly sure on the dates.I'm pretty sure it says tootsietoy on it.When i saw Titan man's i thought they looked like they were built the same.Definitely COOL finds.

Hi all. Glad i stumbled onto the Tootsie Toy car show. Here's one I found in '04. TC & HH, JJ

Well ok, here is my Chev Monza I found last year. I have found quite a few of them over the years and have just given them away. I had an offer of $30.00 for this one but declined. There is definitly a market for them as a collectable. I would really like to know how much the little silver race car is worth. Isn't the forum fun? HH Dennis in Idaho

Looks like I had one too. Picked it up a while back, but had it in the back of the Van as it wasn't a HW's.... Now I know!!

Thanks/Cliff

:For a change cars that don't depreciate.
