I got fooled by another Uncle Sam play nickel....1952 this time. I found the 1954 last year under my neighbor's clothesline. It looks just like silver as you are rubbing it clean. Would have been a perfect April Fools find !

Not sure what the gold item is. My wife thought it was a napkin holder but it seems to small for that. It looks like some sort of base metal dipped in gold something or other.
 
Tie clip fror a neckscarf? Decorative piece off a lamp or ceiling light? Ya got me McDave. Neat find anyhow.

looks like a toothpick holder. japan made similar objects during the early to mid 1900's. But most of that stuff was ceramic and this is not so either way it is a good keeper.
