backup Excal sniffs out a 14k...

Went to the beach after work yesterday and planned on testing out the CTX with an attempted headphone mod that failed, so I grabbed my trusty Excal and she managed to sniff out this 14k band... It has been about 4 months since I have used my Excal since I got my CTX, I forgot how awesome it is to have some really loud headphones while diving...

So H.M., you got the ring while diving with the excal? How loud are the excal headphones when diving? I have really wanted to dive with my CTX but like you I have not been able to modify any headphones where they are loud enough. I have been using my Infinium but there is so much trash metal in the freshwater swimming holes I dive it would be nice to have the discrimination of the CTX.

I put Garrett headphones on the Excal and they are super loud... I can hear all tones while breathing. I have videos of my hunts that you can hear the tones under water clear as day... I have been working on some phones for the CTX and so far have the loudest sounds with the Garrett headphones but still is not as loud as I would like I have plans on trying out some other things with the CTX and as soon as i figure out something (If I do) then I will post it... I love the CTX in the water! It is my favorite machine to hunt with...

I converted a pair of Garrett uw headphones and they are not loud at all. They would blow my ears out with the Infinium so I got some GG Amphibians with the volume control for that detector. I figured the Garretts were so loud that it would be perfect for the CTX but I was disappointed. I can barely hear them on land so I know I would not be able to hear them under water. Haven't tried them yet.

OV, The Garretts work the best for me on the CTX and they are louder than the GGU and GGA... I have an old pair of Garretts (before they started making them with smaller speakers and longer wire)... I don't know why Garrett changed there design but for some reason the Garrett headphones that has been manufactured in the last 3 years are different. You know that they are recently manufactured if the cord has a 1' straight section on it...

Get the excel ............... I have a buddy I water hunt with and he uses his excel and uses the CTX as a back up.
