BACK UP SECOND DETECTOR

IN YOUR OPINIONS WHICH DETECTOR WOULD BE A BETTER BACKUP DETECTOR...THE PRISM V OR THE CLASSIC V . I COIN AND JEWELRY HUNT,SOMETIME BEACHES WHEN POSSIBLE. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

The Prism has one maybe 2 coils available for it, same with the Classic 5. Don't know anything about the Prism personally but I would get a IDX-Pro before getting a Classic 5 simply because it has a large selection of coils available but you would have to get a used IDX unless some dealer has old stock somewhere. The IDX goes for a little over 200 up to about 400.

In my opinion, a second detector the same as the first is the ideal solution unless you really can make use of a model with different strengths such as a nugget machine. At least, the backup machine should use the same coils as the first. My two bits.

When I bought my MXT I kept my IDX Pro for a back up. Only thing is in over 5 years the MXT has never let me down. I have often thought about letting it go but it's such a darn good machine I haven't been able to let it go.I also have a classic ID that I keep for the grandkids to learn with and even it does a good job.

My first detector is my Prizm IV. My main Detector is my MXT. If the MXT gets sick,i will wait till it's back from repair. The Prizm is now used by Grand kids or as a guest detector. I will suck the juice out of a dead dogs eyes before i will ever take a giant step backwards and use the Prizm.
