Back to the trusty M6

Gosh ..... the game of musical detectors finally ended.

I tried several of the Whites, several of the Minelab and
the Tesoro.

I can't say any machine was bad .... but looking back
the M6 was one heck of a detector with pure simplicity,
tone id, easy pinpoint, good depth, good coil options,
and visual ID display.

So here I went and repurchased another M6 and most
likely the last detector I will buy.

I think it's one heck of a detector that is under rated
and a real sleeper!

I have owned 5 M6's and 6 MXT's. I'll add another MXT Pro to my personal arsenal soon, but I have a few necessary reason why I need it, mainly for class instruction however the back-light is a must in the summer heat of the desert ghost towns.

My oldest son used an excellent White's IDX Pro and I felt it could have stayed at his side for a long ti e to come. however, he did want to move up to more visual TID info, such as a battery test, VDI Numbers, and then also have the Ground Balance capability. So, I nabbed an 'as new' M6 in March and sold it to him. He now has a detector which can last him a long, long time.

Ever since the M6 was released and I bought one, I have felt that it was a very under-rated, and under-promoted model by most dealers, and that's sad to say. Most of them seemed to push the customer to the MXT for only $100 more, but the M6 was really more (or all) of what they really wanted or needed. To me, an M6 w/5.3 Eclipse will handle 95% or more of my hunting needs with ample depth, discrimination characteristics, and ability to still pick in and around trash.

I like to use the Tone ID option, but not when hunting in heavy trash, especially iron trash, but for some casual coin hunting I've enjoyed the audio ID. I think the best word you used was 'simplicity' because that really denotes what the M6 provides. Simplicity, but with ample field performance.

I'm glad you've come back around to a great mid-priced White's.

Yes Monte!

I agree that the M6 is more than most people need.

Companies will always come out with new machines and that's to
get more sales as that's the name of the game.

New models do not mean than some of the older models are not
as capable.

If I never used many of the other machines I would never of had a chance
to understand how good the M6 really is.

I'll be posting my M6 finds once I get back into the field.

Happy Hunting!

Up until a few weeks ago, it was my main machine. I have an Explorer, a few Los Banos Fishers, and now an MXT. Used it for over 6 years. GREAT machine.

Yeah. I've really been looking at this one and even pm'd Monte a couple of weeks ago on it. I even like the looks of it better, for some reason.

Bought mine a couple of years back used and I love it .I wish I would have gotten one of these before a few other detectors I had bought and sold prior to obtaining this one .My favorite coils for it are the 6X10 and the 5.3 although the 9.5 and the 4x6 are also great coils . White's customer service is great too .The M6 is a pretty magical machine simple to operate but really gets you the goodies !!:whites::thumbup:

Not only do I like the simplicity of the M6
but also the features.

Tone Id or regular search mode
Visual Identification
Pinpoint Blocks
Ground Tracking
Beach Mode

And no headaches to deal with :)
Just turn and go!

I just traded TheOtherLeggoHead for his trusty old M6 (see above post) and I'm here to tell that this machine is still running perfectly. I got it for a trainer/backup but after checking it out I know I'll also be using it for certain situations . . .solid machine.

The M6 is a park and Sports Field, coin & Jewelry Vacuum .......And better yet...... it's Ridiculous easy to operate
