Howdy--

We have had a bit rain in the last few days which is a real treat considering that we have had a drought in this part of west Texas for the last 3 years. I thought that this might be a good time to go back to that "Small Cache" site. I gave my buddy Kenneth a call and he was thumbs-up for the idea.

Since there was quite a bit of trash at this site, mostly rusty bottle caps and nails with a smattering of can-slaw, I selected my 4X6 Shooter coil. I'm glad that I did. My first signal turned out to be a 1940-S merc. There were 2 rusty nails in the hole. I ended up with a total of 3 silver coins 2 nickles and 8 wheat-cents. Kenneth got 4 silver Roosevelt's and a few wheat-cents. My total silver count from this small lot is 33. And I didn't think that this lot looked like it was worth hunting! You just never know. I wonder what kind of activities too place on that lot for there to be so many silver coins? Sounds like you found a silver Mine. Congrats on those excellent finds.
 
Thanks GeorgeinSC. I've wondered that too. I've looked at this site on Google Earth past images and haven't seen any change. My guess is there was a house there and the resident(s) were careless with their $. I did find broken glass in the hole where the majority of the coins were found. So I view that as a "Small Cache". My detecting buddy, Kenneth dug 18 silver coins at this lot plus quite a few wheat-cents. Best of luck and ...
